Tim Heard and team are extremely switched on, I greatly appreciated their assistance with a difficult job on the Cam, for Doctor Swire and his wife. Certainly lived up to expectations.

Forestry Transport Management

Peter Williams sorted my requirement for timber bolsters, in order to enable The Bailey to carry tree trunks from my new source of logs for the “a luddite” Lumberjack division.

Talis Amos Group

Andrew Broughton has a truly great gang. Each member of the company has first class attitude and a can-do approach to every job. Operationally, service, parts, sales and administration daily enhance the care-package for my 3140 & The Bailey.

Avondale Self Storage

Henry Bentall and his wife Claire must be the ultimate for clean, effective, flexible and efficient storage. Matched only by the high quality security envelope around their entire site. My JD & The Bailey are never in better hands.

Avondale

The ladies and the gentlemen of this gorgeous traditional builders’ merchant, have over generations developed a business model for the sector second to none. Operational capacity and performance answers all questions. Where else would I get my stuff?

Cotswold Building Supplies

Ben Satchwell, the son in law of Danny Perez, the renowned front of house chef of Caminetto fame and still as fit as he ever was, and still performing untold gymnastic movements despite him now reaching middle age. In fact, Danny’s love of life and indefatigable drive in an ultra high-powered business environment such as a thriving gourmet restaurant has undeniably rubbed off on young Ben. BK is a can-do Logistics company very much in growth mode and can provide a host of transport and warehousing services nationwide and beyond.

Eight Bells

Neil and Julie have been with me since the Chinese Wuhan virus struck. The gourmet restaurant/ boozer destination pub/ with alfresco charm has over 30 years become a bastion for all things good. Stylish, lively, elegant, inviting and traditionally unique. Courteous, professional and friendly. CAMRA, dogs and hosts of Cotswold characters.

Eight Bells

Alexandra Sharpe brings glamour to the Lumberjack high action industry. Where I must admit, to which, I am a greenhorn, but Alex and her crew are always there to put me right.

Andre Goodall runs a tight squad. He is a good egg indeed. Brandy and cider are well kept and I hear the beer is also fine. He and Sajjad are threatening to come to my “Life-Style” classes. Looking forward to getting their pounds and kilos off.

The Red Lion
Kevin Tomes

I have to say it is a privilege to be acquainted with one of the oldest Camdin families, still established in the village, whose ancestors go back generations untold.

Kevin and his two brothers, John and Colin , still operate businesses in the Parish.

Kevin himself is a deluxe renovator of all things red, although a grey Fergie and the blue of Ford sometimes feature.

Anyone interested in acquiring a Massey Ferguson 35/65/135/165/175 then Kevin is the only answer. He is an exponent of creating concors examples.

But wait until you see the furrows his tractor and ploughs can produce and also what a fabulous stone mason he is.

Terence Rodbard

Terence Rodbard is a musician and a writer of books musical par excellence, particularly biographies of famous and renowned composers.
He is a walking musical encyclopaedia of the classical genre.
After constant bullying by me, he has promised to produce a rendition of “The Entertainer” for the “a luddite” website.
I am sure he will surpass all my expectations.

Empressive Motor Company

PRE-OWNED HIGH SPEC LUXURY VEHICLES

Don’t know the geezer, met him on holiday in Wales recently.

However, he has a very professional website with testimonials galore.

If you are in the market, he may be worth looking at.

Hartwell Timber

I have to say that Hartwell Timber has played a very important role in my hole digging career. During the summers of 1968 and 1969 I spent my entire school holidays immersed in the science of digging a good hole for the fencing division of Peter Hartwell and Co, the forerunner of the present timber entity. I was lucky enough to be extremely part-time apprentice to Mr Roy Rogers, the epitome of the rural fencer deluxe. The little bit of practical knowledge he bestowed upon me, has enabled “a luddite” to actually become a competitor in the local industry.

Bush Eddington

Edgington Contracting & Groundworks
A gentleman in a labour intensive and pressurised rural environment. “Bush” Edgington has taken me under his wing, provided oodles of advice and has helped my fledgling business model keep its head above water. He is a chain-saw wizard, fencer deluxe and purveyor of fabulous rustic fabrication ideas and services. He is a countryside genius

Signsrus

As soon as I discovered what Sam Goodall and her team could achieve with vinyl, I was hooked.

The “a luddite” Van, is the embodiment of “yes please” marketing.

Everyone at SignsRUS take a bow:-

  • Phenomenal
  • Unbeatable
  • Unbelievably High Quality
  • Emphatically Cost Effective
  • The Only Way
  • One Time, Every Time Impact

The most marketable virtuosity of a concept EVER

Cost Accountants and Purchasing Directors –     Bear this in mind –

For the price of a mediocre size single one day advertisement in a National newspaper or a page in a glossy for one month you get immediate and constant exposure for at least the 5 year lease life of your vehicle.

Joe Furness

Joe Furness – another gem, whose advice, knowledge and ability to supply whatever I need, whenever I am stuck in a hole. Terrific fellow, what would I have done without him, particularly in the early days and continues to be the case today

Aaron Bennett

The Aaron Bennett missive as follows:-
On finally finding a website designer with a brain, I suggested to Charles Willcock, Managing Director and CEO, of Website Doctor, that we investigate the potential of “a luddite” experimenting with drone and video technology.
We believe our first foray into the genre was not entirely without merit, as we still retain a lot of the footage, which features in our current “ground clearance” section.
However, I am now in the fortunate position of being able to interact with one of the best of the Cotswold youth crop of media marketing people, who are extending their knowledge and abilities exponentially within the European film making, production and academic marketing environments
Basically we’ve nailed it
Watch this space and ensure you remember the name and the brand “Aaron Bennett.”

The Cotswold Tailor

Alex Edwards, THE Cotswold tailor, who has made a short-arsed Cotswold hillbilly achieve that Million Dollar look. He demonstrates a modern-day creativity, to which he adds the ability to infuse a combination of traditional bespoke tailoring with contemporary design and that deceptively hidden aura of je ne sais quoi
Personally, I think he should hire me as his front of house male model. Of course my inherent modesty prevents me from suggesting such a thing.

BRAVO ALEX

Malcolm Sked

Malcolm Sked started with for his Father, Jim Sked aged 17 and later joined by his brother Andrew. Most of the work then was agricultural repairs, Car MOT repairs and welding and some wrought iron work. As the years went on the work leaned more and, more towards wrought iron work, staircases, balconies and general fabrication, whilst still keeping the local farmers on the move. Current work is really whatever comes through the door as long as its steel based. Intricate staircases and balustrades, a dovecote, general bits and pieces and a lot of jobs that no one else will go within a mile of… and still keeping the farmers happy!

What a geezer organised my unusual request within minutes

I wanted my FTM timber bolsters mounted on my Bailey. Two days later it was done, collected and in service. 12. months later it is proving to be a spectacular success.

Family Sked magnificent workers in intricate wrought iron and keeping Cotswold farmers moving.
